"I attended every seminar I could find." I was confident the money saved doing it myself would far out weigh the cost to have a reputable contractor complete my list of demands. The extensive work required to transform an ordinary house and back yard into my sanctuary; my own paradise would come with a staggering price tag. I was convinced and embarked on an adventure that was challenging in the least. As a car painter, I demanded the best. Products that were consistent and could be pushed to the edge. I expected these products to be backed by a reputable company that offered training, support and a warranty that ensured my success. If there was a product failure, my supplier was responsive in resolving the issue and offered compensation for my loss. I assumed the same protocol would apply in the construction industry. Was I in for a big surprise! Upon completion of my first project and own residence, I was unfortunately enlightened to the real protocol. I had failure after failure with their sealers. The supplier knew nothing and manufacturer offered different solutions depending on whom you called. Trusting the advice of the manufacturer's technical "expert", I proceeded with great hesitation. Hours later I knew I had a real mess on my hands. My project sat for ten days waiting for someone to come out and assign blame. It was a clear product issue resulting in the resurfacing of the entire home. For this I received another five gallons of the same sealer that just failed! You can imagine I was livid. We all have stories like mine. Fortunately, my disaster was not a liability and was contained. Costs related to operating your business continue to rise pressuring you for profits. You simply cannot afford to end up in court on a job gone bad, especially when you are applying the products to the manufacturers' specifications. I continued my search for the next two years until having the extreme pleasure of meeting Gary Jones. He was kind enough to introduce me to Colormaker brand products. He took a special interest in teaching anyone who would listen how to get great results and be successful using his product offering. Skeptical at best that I was being sold another repackaged "Crete" product, I put his products to the test. I picked up the basics in an afternoon class and by the weekend I had installed over 2000 feet. I pushed it to the limits as I would expect other installers to do. After it was dry, I drove over it, dragged chairs and furniture across it, even pressure washed it. To my amazement, it would withstand anything I did to make it fail. The rest is history. We received our first order in July and started our quest to educate, inform and ensure every installer of decorative concrete products knew about Colormaker.
